COTA 2018 Summer Institute
Please remember to set aside August 28th, 29th, and 30th for our summer institute. Our theme is The World Through a Different Lens. We have invited a number of aboriginal celebrities to tell their stories about truth,reconciliation and the future. We will have a number of place based activities to explore and learn about our local first nations knowledge and perspectives. There will be sessions on the "How" to incorporate truth,reconciliation,aboriginal knowledge and perspectives into your lessons. This will be a sumer institute that you won't want to miss.
Below are two of our guests who have accepted our invitation.
Cowboy Smithx is an Award Winning filmmaker of Blackfoot Ancestry from the Piikani and Kainai tribes of Southern Alberta, Canada. Cowboy is the founder and curator of the highly acclaimed International Indigenous speaker series “REDx Talks." He also serves as the Artistic Director of the Iiniistsi Treaty Arts Society. He writes, directs and produces film works in documentary, narrative, music video and experimental. Cowboy is currently working in Indigenous education, Cultural consultation and Youth work across the globe. Cowboy hosts the critically acclaimed podcast “The Silent X”.
