Dancing Backwards - free resource

Jun 27, 2018 jjamison
Greetings from Dancing Backwards,
My name is Alexa Lewis. I am an intern with Dancing Backwards Society—a Victoria-based non-profit organization that has developed a free, interactive, online school program for grades 5 and up that satisfies provincial Ministry curricula criteria in Social Studies, English, History Government, and Arts Education. Teachers can sign up for a free account on www.dancingbackwards.ca to gain full access to the program, videos and online resources! The Dancing Backwards program is a fully downloadable, 8-part course—students discover the importance of good citizenship, gender parity in leadership and governance, and the relevance of politics in their lives while being introduced to the prospect of voting. Students use media to tell the stories of Canada’s political women– role models long overdue in our classrooms – that become part of the ever-expanding “Her Story Archive,” documenting women’s political accomplishments. The Dancing Backwards program lays the foundation for political and community engagement. The program is currently being translated for use in French Immersion classes and will be finished by the end of the year. Please let us know if you would like to be notified when our French program is officially released.
We recently sent you a postcard with information for your members about our free, downloadable program that would be of interest to teachers of grades 5 and up. We would be happy to follow up with a phone call to answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to reply to this email. We are also looking for suggestions on how best to bring the Dancing Backwards program to the teachers in your organization. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for kind attention. I look forward to your response.
With thanks,
Alexa Lewis
Dancing Backwards Intern
