Professional Development Conferences

COTA Professional Development Conferences

COTA hosts three Professional Development Conferences annually.
  • The Summer Institute on the last Tuesday prior to the beginning of the School Year.
  • The Fall Conference is typically on the third Friday of October.
    • If the same week as Thanksgiving Monday, it will run on the fourth Friday of the Month.
  • The Spring Zonal Conference on the Friday of the Family Day Weekend.


Each day is divided into three sessions:
  • Morning Session: 8:30 am to 10:00 am
  • Midday Session: 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm


A combination of in-person and virtual sessions will be available.

Registration opens on ebase, running from January 15th to February 5th.

Programs in Professional Development for the Spring Zonal Conference
are brought to you by SD# 22, 23, 53, 67, and 83 Teachers' Associations.


Registration

For all conferences, we will be using the platform ebase to register.

Please create an account ebase, if you haven't already done so.

You can do this before registration begins.

COTA members, use your SD23 email account to register.

UBCO teacher candidates and interns, use your UBCO student account.

For all other participants, please use your work email.


Additional Information

COTA members, submit your Annual Professional Development Plan at least 10 days prior to the end of the school year (June 16th, 2026). Ensure that you confirm any changes to your plan by the last Friday of February.

Please note that the Professional Development Calendar is from July 1st - June 30th. You cannot include any pro-d activities completed prior to July 1st.

For the October and February Professional Development Days, SD23 requires employees to be on an SD23 site if not at a conference or workshop.
